On July 11th 2024 our project coordinator Cedric Gouy-Pailler presented Kinaitics during the event fostered by HSbooster.eu, AI standardization: Challenges & Opportunities on AI & Emerging Technologies – SME perspectives.
The event has now reached its third edition with a special focus on AI standardization. The workshop aimed to discuss the needs and concerns of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in alignment with the application of the AI ACT in the near future and the development of new standards.
Please remember the text below:
The need is very much felt as the emergence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Blockchain technologies presents new standardization challenges for SMEs in Europe, requiring a proactive approach in adapting to evolving needs and requirements, such as the AI Act.
These challenges encompass addressing issues related to transparency, accountability, and data privacy, and ensuring that AI systems are aligned with societal values. Simultaneously, the rapid evolution of blockchain technologies necessitates ensuring interoperability and maintaining the security of transactions. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) must adeptly navigate the evolving landscape of blockchain standards to ensure the integrity and efficiency of their operations.
Maria Giuffrida from HSbooster.eu introduced 4 experts who provided in-depth insights into the topic. The experts included Emilia Tantar from CEN-CLC JTC 21, Olivier Blais from ISO/IEC JTC1/SC42, Rania Wazir from Austria NSB and Co-founder of Leiwand.AI, and Cedric Gouy-Pailler from the KINAITICS Project. They helped the audience gain a better understanding of the importance of standardization in AI and the challenges faced by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The discussion was moderated by Isabel Caetano, the Chair of the Technical Committee for AI at IPQ, and Farshid Amirabdollahian from the University of Hertfordshire.
